AI Inference vs Edge AI Servers: Which Supermicro Gold Series SKU Fits Your Workload?
Compare six Supermicro Gold Series configurations for AI inference, retail, restaurant, and embedded applications, with hardware and deployment considerations.

Supermicro Gold Series systems offer preconfigured hardware for evaluation against your workload. Confirm the quoted hardware, software requirements, warranty, installation needs, and lead time before ordering.
This guide compares six configurations for data center AI inference, retail and quick-service restaurant (QSR) applications, and embedded equipment. The application descriptions below are options to evaluate with your own software, peripherals, and operating conditions.
Compare six configurations
The following hardware comes from Supermicro’s Gold configuration datasheets, checked September 18, 2026. Components and available configurations can change; the quotation should identify what will be supplied. Supermicro lists a 3/3/1 warranty for these six configurations: three years of labor, three years of parts, and one year of cross-ship coverage. Confirm the applicable terms in your quotation.

| ARS-E103-JONX-H2-01-G2 | Fanless embedded; Jetson-based vision, kiosks, and local AI inference | NVIDIA Jetson Orin NX, 8 CPU cores and 1,024 CUDA cores; manufacturer rating up to 157 TOPS | 16GB onboard ECC LPDDR5X; 256GB M.2 NVMe SSD | 4 × 1GbE and 1 × 10GbE |
The Jetson system’s fanless construction does not eliminate airflow and thermal requirements. Its published operating range of −25°C to 60°C specifies 0.7 m/s airflow. Review the mounting, power input, and enclosure conditions for the installation.
Each configuration page links to its exact ordering number and official datasheet. The table describes included hardware; supported GPU counts, memory limits, optional PoE, and installation requirements are separate platform specifications.
Questions to resolve before selecting a system
- Workload: Which models and applications will run, at what concurrency, and with what latency and throughput targets? Include model size, precision, context length, GPU memory needs, and local storage requirements.
- Software: Which operating system, accelerator libraries, drivers, and deployment tools are required? Confirm support for the proposed hardware.
- Installation: Check rack or enclosure dimensions, service access, power, cooling, ambient temperature, and mounting. Describe any dust, vibration, or other environmental requirements.
- Connections: List cameras, displays, point-of-sale devices, kitchen systems, and other peripherals. Confirm ports, bandwidth, and required expansion.
- Deployment and support: Share quantities, rollout dates, remote-management needs, spare-system plans, and required warranty terms.
For the two GPU systems, compare memory capacity and GPU count against the model and concurrency requirements, then benchmark the proposed configuration. For retail and restaurant systems, test the actual peripherals and applications together. For an embedded Jetson installation, evaluate the complete enclosure and thermal arrangement.
